Our stores give back to the communities they serve. Strong families are the lifeblood of communities and Rainbow is dedicated to helping through our support of organizations dedicated to hunger relief, the advancement of literacy and families in crisis, as related to intervention and prevention of neglect and abuse.
In addition to our formal community support store programs, we are also actively engaged at the local level serving community groups and non-profit organizations through a variety of activities. From a cook out for Boy Scouts, to a store tour for first graders to donating pumpkin pies to Meals on Wheels, our stores are involved with helping their neighbors.
Rainbow also works with the Roundy’s Foundation, which was chartered in 2003 to help the communities Rainbow serves. The Roundy’s Foundation supplies hundreds of tons of food to community pantries in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. It also supports organizations that shelter women and children who encounter domestic and sexual abuse and provides funding for literacy programs that teach children and adults to read. Since its inception, the Roundy’s Foundation has donated more than $5 million to organizations dedicated to service in the areas of hunger relief, domestic abuse and literacy.
Rainbow offers local non-profit organizations an alternative fundraising opportunity as a result of our partnership with the Great Lakes Scrip Center (GLSC) and its gift card program. With this program, organizations are able to raise money more effectively by allowing community members to turn their everyday grocery shopping into a good cause. The program operates by selling Rainbow gift cards to local non-profit organizations at a discounted rate. The organization then sells the purchased the gift cards at face value, in turn earning the organization a rebate on every card.
